The world will end. Fact.
I often say to people that the sun will swallow us up, but that the heat increase way before that time will end life by itself.
Then, during some writing and researching, I decided to look up astronomical predictions, and found that there is a potential for a massive gamma ray burst that could wipe out all life on earth long before the sun swallows us.
"Long before" is probably as relative as it gets, and I don't have the numbers here, but yay!
There is a risk, yes, but I believe it's not that big in the (for us) foreseeable future. And while we might be swallowed by the sun, it's not a certainty.
So cheer up, will you.
Oh, nonono, for US people no, this is like, hundreds of millions of years ahead, so by then this will be a different planet, for different things, but thats kindov my point, it's a positive note still, that things will keep living here for a long time, even if a gamma ray burst will snuff us out in front of our sun "HEY >:I"
Well, if it's any consolation, there is a significant risk of us being hit by a very large rock long before humanity is going to be extinct.
Discovery Channel sometimes had evenings filled with doom scenarios for this planet. Very funny how they presented every possible outcome with dread and fear. Watched quite a few with my oldest, years ago.We laughed a lot.
Tapping in on fear of people, about things that might happen after humans are extinct is making no sense to me, but it is funny. Like telling us how hot we will be at temperatures that high that no water will be on the globe.
