What is the story behind Battlecat?

Nothing really. Born to a feral mother who was dumped at an industrial site. She was too feral to be kept so she was spayed and released back to her colony. She gave birth to her kittens in foster care though and he was one of the litter. We have over 500 cats in foster care and we can't have 2 cats of the of same name (or it gets confusing when someone calls the adoption line say they want to adopt "Cali" and there's 3 calico cats named Cali on the site) so the fosters have to start getting creative with the names. This is why we have a cat on the site name Lederhosen

 My former landlady fostered, and eventually adopted, a feral orphan kitten many years ago.  He stayed a little wild but was worth the effort.

Yeah if you can get them young enough, they can do really well. Even some of the adult ferals can adapt. But unfortunately some can't so the least we can do is TNR (trap, spay/neuter, release) and they go to colonies who are well maintained. Fed, given medical care if needed, and their kittens are put into foster care.

 That is a wonderful service you provide, especially since it breaks the sad cycle of endless litters being born into short, hard lives.

I took in a stray once (I think her owners dumped her), she was pregnant and had her kittens on my bed. We (my mum, stepdad and me) have one of her offspring now.

Also GA and I took in what we thought was a stray but was actually owned by someone in our unit complex. He was two years old and hadn't been sterilised! Don't know why the owner didn't get him sterilised because he was behaving very much like a tomcat, getting into fights and all. So GA and I took him to the vet to get him sterilised before we knew someone actually owned him. Plus we named him Liam. He lives with GA now and is a lovely big cat with a really nice nature.
