That sounds like quite an adventure, Pyraxis.  What will you do for them?

What will you do for them?

I'll start as a junior lighting artist on their current short film. Though if things are anything like the last studio I worked at, it shouldn't take too long before I'm doing more than lighting.

I was amazed - I didn't have to do a phone interview, just answer questions through email. Which was awesome, since I present a lot better through writing than over the phone. I just have to prove myself when I get there and pass their one-month review.

Though it looks like I'm going to have to handle my own relocation.

Congrats, Pyraxis! Just ask them to subtitle anything the locals say, and you should be fine. ;)

Sorry, didn't notice this thread before.  Since I don't work and live with my mum, I don't really have a terribly good idea of how much money you'd need, but 15K sounds livable if you're not fussy; it's about what a cleaner or shop assistant or something would make.  Rent starts at about £375/month for a 1-bedroom apartment: http://www.letting-in-scotland.co.uk/glasgow.htm.  Travel is very easy; it's a compact city, well served by bus, train and underground, so cars are pretty optional, and even though I live 14km from the centre, I get around fine either by bus or bicycle, so that's one less expense for you.  Since you don't live in the UK, you should contact the Foreign & commonwealth office for passport renewal.

* Pyraxis waves from Starbucks, downtown Glasgow

Gotta love globalization - just walked down what I think is a main street, asking in every coffee shop, and this is the only wireless hotspot that anyone knew about.

Starting work tomorrow. Still working on the flat problem, and how to get all my luggage from here to the B&B in Kilsyth cheaply. Here I thought I travelled light, but I can't drag all this crap half a mile uphill from the bus stop. Probably will just end up calling a cab.

There actually is another language in Scotland, Gaelic. It's a Celtic language, that was spoken before the English conquered Scotland.

English with a Scottish accent is pretty easy to imitate. You just make strong "r"s and speak the vowels in the back of your mouth.
