OK you all have probably got threads you really like or threads you hated or great fight threads or whatever BUT what threads here do you think show something to the newbies about this place and its personalities and the way we conduct ourselves as a unmoderated/barely moderated Aspie site?
What threads strike you as particularly good recommended reading for those uncultured in our unique ways?
Find a thread and highlight why you think it is good or bad or more importantly, important in being recommended reading. If there is background or whatever, then note that. Tell them why.
Here are a few I thought were good.
http://www.intensitysquared.com/index.php/topic,12633.0.htmlNo, for anyone looking at this as thinking I am making light of it or promoting my efforts here
What this is about?Off memory, Soph was pissing me off here and on a board she ran and so was Austra/Bint (Blasted) and we ended up in a pretty visceral and heated exchange over a long protracted period of time over many threads.
Do not read too much into the title. There was a lot of nasty shit being flung. No innocent parties really.
Why is it important as recommended reading? It is a big row and everyone man and his dog throws in their two cents. Big calls are made. People back their position and have it contested. Everyone holds their ground and slowly the issues over many pages get sorted...without bannings, without thread closure, without warnings....this is the beauty of unmoderated boards. Bad blood does get spilled occasionally but it need not be a bad or scary thing. Time and the mere process of going through it sorts it out and all members police themselves.
Good result. YES I do like this thread very much. What Intensity is, in my book.
http://www.intensitysquared.com/index.php/topic,16158.0.htmlWhat this is about? There was a member Ricktard who had a penchant for posting pics of himself wanking as an avatar. Pissed many of us off and had us scrambling. He was not sanctioned. A member here Candlemass (Pentagram) in retaliation started spamming and got punished. I took issue of this with Odeon. He suggested we take it to callout rather than me bitch about it. I accepted.
Why is it important as recommended reading?Tell me one other site where the owner will be prepared to do exactly what happened here and in fitting with the site's maxim, will be prepared to back his own assertions. What I also like about the thread is that I HAD severely misread some of Odeon's comments and he did of me. There was a lot of back and fro and in the end mostly we agreed to disagree but the journey worth the effort. Not as visceral or heated as most callouts certainly but successful. The issues were sorted and two grumpy old men gruffly shaking hands and walking away at the end of it all.
http://www.intensitysquared.com/index.php/topic,16396.0.htmlWhat this is about? Two of the gentlest souls on I2 in a callout.
Why is it important as recommended reading?Because I2 is about silliness too. These two are good friends and the callout not of their making. Get caught inbetween a fight between these two and the worst that you will suffer is a bad case of hugging.
