Bloody hell. I meant to write "your corner of the world".
It *is* a sensation. You shouldn't have them. They won't be able to survive for long, right?
If they can survive close to the German border, they should be able to live here too, I guess. But, real wilderness, no, we don't have that. There are enough places to hide and hunt though. Foxes do great here. A wolf is something different, I know, but I can imagine that it will find ways to adapt.
I wonder if I ever will happen to see one. Guess not.
Your corner is simply too populated for the wolf. They'd be scared all the time.
Wolves need space around here we have their smaller cousin, coyotes which seem to do fairly well in the suburban environment, is there an equivalent to them in Europe? They have the look of mangy midsized to largish dogs and eat most anything including cats>
Foxes are there enough around here. Enough to now and then be a plague too. Heard it say that wolves probably will be less a problem to farmers than foxes can be. Foxes now and then go on with killing poultry, just for the fun of it.
I do live in the eastern part of the Netherlands. So, about the least populated bit. For about a decade there have been reports about wolves being seen. I was amazed that this one has been found in the polder. Not really thick in population, but the only way to get here is to either cross a bridge or swim.
