It's rainbow time in the diningroom.  Certain times per year, the setting sunlight hits the chandelier and creates rainbow speckles all over the walls. It only last a few minutes, but it's really nice.

It would happen twice a year. Twice a year, the afternoon sun shines into my bedroom and Kira the cat likes to bask in it. Now the days are longer than the nights here.

There are a couple of window films that do that. Bought one for a temp fix in my living room. Throws rainbows everywhere.

The girl has a crystal hanging in one of her diningroom windows, so she has rainbow time at her house too.  I don't think we would use the window film. The diningroom doesn't even have a window, only an opening where a sliding glass door used to be. We took down the glass doors years ago to open the sunroom to the rest of the house so the airconditioning can get out there. The sunroom is three full walls of windows and has served a few purposes over the years, but it's currently a shared office and den, and the place we spend most of our daylight hours. The back yard is very shady and private and butts against a wooded area. It's so nice we don't have any window coverings at all in there.  The setting sunlight just happens to peek through the trees perfectly and hits the lowest hanging crystal sometimes. I might be able to try hanging a crystal in the door opening to see if it would happen more often.
