Why is there no fire danger rating today with the hot westerly??
Despite the rains we've had this season, there have been two grass fires pop up on the RFS map today, yet no fire danger rating at all.
Opposite here, Nanny State! A couple weeks back there were still leaves on the ground and the "Powers That Be" established a burn ban to keep us safe from ourselves.
It was perfect weather for a back yard fire pit every evening, but you could get a $3k fine if you violated ordinances.
FUCK! Buy a hose and have it by. Life can still happen even within danger!
I think that removing "danger" from our lives makes us all just weaker and we will have no way to deal with what real life can present.
Mother Fuckers!
I believe we should preserve some of our endangered danger for the future. We NEED our danger!
The blessedly slim remnants of what danger we have all known is why we are strong!
You need to obtain a fire permit between September and I think March here. I mean, the odd backyard fire pit you can get away with, but if you're doing a pile burn or hazard burning on a large property you can get in trouble without a permit. Mostly because well meaning people who see the smoke will call 000, and it's a waste of a callout when the volunteer brigade bust their ass to get there just to find some numpty burning a large rubbish pile with no permit.
Here, total fire bans only happen with the fire danger is severe or occasionally catastrophic. Most people living on a farm out in the bush have their own fire fighting pumps to use, as long as they have a dam on their property too.
The fire danger ratings are merely an advisory:-
-Low to moderate: it's ok to light fires.
-High: please don't light fires.
-Severe: only dumb cockheads light fires on a day like today. Furthermore ready your pumps or evacuation plans in case there's a dumb cockhead near you.
