Apparently the Dutch do beat the Swedes, when it comes to fireworks.
You should try being in Kampen or so, on New Years eve, one day. That town has massive Carbide shootings.

I live over 10 km away from that town, but every new year, I fall asleep with the distant drumming of the fireworks of that town in my ear. It goes on till the crack of dawn, mostly.

The world is still dark. The kids are sleeping. Sirius is taking a stroll outside, no one is lighting fireworks now, they are sleeping in.
I'm up, the house is silent, apart from the washing machine doing a white laundry, and the keys of my laptop reacting on my fingers.
I should boil myself some water, and then enjoy the newspaper, with a nice huge cup of tea.

The world is now greying into daylight. Sirius is back inside. He is happily purring on my lap, unaware this was his last trip outside for today.
The neighbour cat is sitting on the fence, hoping I will forget that I already gave him some food.
My tea is good.
The day starts nice.

Saw someone driving the wrong way down a one way street today and he looked at me weird when I stopped to let him pass
