I drink less coffee at home and today was no exception.

(bugger too late.. doof about how to reply to now.. ) (welllllllll.. )

Thanks. Most shown in picture just was there already.. planted by previous owner. Funny thing though, that green luscious plant on the right is a genuine poppy plant. You know the one they make opium/heroin from. Wonder what the old lady (prev. owner) had for an hobby here.

Not CG's ofc. but cats are quite a bugger here. Birds, mouse, hedgehog wise. Ugly smelling poop too.

Will post some more pictures later, I guess, yes.

Yeah really. She calls that a gift waiting to be delivered to my master after I chomp on it and make it shit itself in pain and despair.

Fat mouse.

I found a dead shrew/spitsmuis in my garden yesterday. Cats just don't eat them, but they do hunt them.

It really shows that you are more south, my mini daffodils are still bright and fresh yellow, and my forget-me-not doesn't even have buds yet.

It's windy here. I was out on the islad and could hear several trees break in the wind.

The genuine poppyplant is an annual plant. The papaver you have is a different one. One I really like, and would love to have in my garden btw. :D

The poppyplant/slaapbol is grown on the former island Schokland as a crop from the past.
I have gotten myself some dry seedheads of those. But they never did well in my garden.

You're right by stating that Papaver somniferum is an annual plant.. and mine, returning every year again, is obviously not. Well, it is a variant that you could use for making opium.. and I did collect the sap from it's seed pods and smoked it after drying. It's so fucking nice I consider the stuff dangerous myself. Too addictive.. but, must say, it makes one horny as hell. Other great downside of it.. is, that it makes my joins ache really terrible the next day.

Plus think your garden is probably quite clay-ish (polder and all) and poppy-plants tend to like sandy grounds mostly (region BoZ has sand grounds). Um, tiz also a drainage thing. Poppy seed and its young plants are quite vulnerable for moist/wet soil and tend to rot fast. Well, maybe that is why it never did well in your garden. (not sure though)

If you wish to try again.. maybe use a pot or something with an hole in its bottom (no pun).. with a 1:1 mixture of potting soil and regular sand for okay drainage.

(blahiah.. surry)

Nice thing is that Papaver Somniferum isn't illegal to grow in most places, not even in Sweden. Only harvesting is illegal.   :eyelash:
