I thought of all this entire forum yesterday.  Grabbing some food with three male friends, and they start off a conversation talking about boobs (there was a sane reason for this), then move on to programming (Linux, I think- there was kind of a sane reason for the conversational progression), and ultimately spend more time talking about programming than boobs.  All I could think was "this is like reading from page one to page five of a thread on intensity."

Although we'd talk more about boobs.

They might've if I hadn't been present- or they might not have brought the topic up at all, lol.  (It started from me staring at the shirt the guy across form me was wearing, which was the xkcd upside-down linux cheatsheet).

Now that I think of it, the day my daughter was born I announced on teh interwebz the untimely death of her future first boyfriend. It's in a newsgroup somewhere.

What is it, that makes men are so worried about the future boyfriends of their daughters?

Is it all bad conscience?

I think it's just that men tend to be very protective of their daughters, not necessarily that they have a guilty conscience.  My husband says he's getting a gun to clean when our daughter starts dating and the young man comes into our house to pick her up.

Makes no sense to me.
Not that I can imagine my girls dating already, but, makes no sense to be so protective. Teaching a girl to be sure of herself would make a lot more sense IMO.
I just think men like to see their daughter's as a princess.  Men also know how bad men can be and what they are likely to have on their mind.

Mum's are a bit more clued up i think because they know what young girls are likely to be thinking too.

My Dad always treated me like a princess.  I played the role very well, and would only change into my mini skirt and pushup bra top when i got out of sight at my mates house :hahaha:
blah blah blah

I knew what it was from, and he explained more specifically what it was.  I don't know linux, but I recognized some of the terms from internet memes, so I was basically reading upside down and geeking out a bit... onto his chest.

LOL, I do remember my Dad's reaction, when he saw me on a really hot day, in a short dress Too funny. He was kinda upset, and asked me what I thought Grandma would think of it, if she were to see me like that. I replied that it had been Oma (my gran) who had shortened the dress.
