:notes:   Have you ever been tried to teach someone who loved music but had no singing or playing ability whatsoever?   :notes:

Yes.

No, but for you I will.  :zoinks:

Some music teacher on TV (I think, it was years ago that I saw this) said she could teach anyone to sing at least fairly well.
She said anyone can sing, any voice can be trained.  Is she right?  What about tone-deaf people?   :orly:

I'm not a singer, but I haven't yet met anyone who I couldn't teach to at least get a tune out of their instrument. Normally, even the worst-sounding playing is due to at most 3 issues of technique.

Never had someone who was actually tone-deaf; most people who think they are aren't.

Do you have a clarinet made of lignum vitae? If not, what is your clarinet made of?

Nope.
I have one made from hard resin and two made from grenadilla.

I see that grenadilla is related to cocobolo and has good density. I have cocobolo grips for my 1911 pistols. If someone attacked you would you bash their noggin with your grenadilla clarinet? Or would you hesitate out of consideration for your clarinet getting hurt?

What kind of wood are your reeds made of?  I never paid much attention to that when I used to play.   :orly:

I teach individual lessons at home and also at a music store/tuition place. I have had work at a school before, but that was just a temporary contract.

I think they're typically made of cane.

Right now the only songs that are coming to mind are Stayin' Alive, which irritates me, and this

which I think is awesome, but which I can't actually sing as it goes way above my vocal range.

I don't really know too much karaoke-suited music actually; perhaps if you provided a list I could choose from it?
