Ramen noodles and cup noodles.
« on: March 30, 2011, 05:53:03 PM »
Okay, they are almost identical to each other, but seriously... How come ramen noodles (in a bag with a flavor packet) are nauseous while the cup noodles are quite good (sans the dried veggies)?

I prepare both (at the same time) in the microwave with purified water. I have tried preparing ramen noodles on the stove. Still come out being nauseous.

And how is it that on the side of the cup noodles, it says NOT to microwave the styrofoam cup, yet it always comes out fine after about 3-4 minutes?

You're supposed to take the plastic off the Ramen noodles first.

(sans the dried veggies)?

:agreed:

The dried veggies do my head in. I pick as many out as I can before I put the water in. So annoying

It could be because they are different manufacturers?  The amount of salt?

I like Kimchi Bowl Noodle Soup.  It will definitely let you know hot and vinegar.

Maybe try making them both without the seasoning packet, and see if they taste the same.

For a bit of a Thai taste, spoon in a teaspoon or so of peanut butter.

BTW, I remember sticking some TV dinners in the oven and leaving the micorwave covers on, YUCK

They are both deep fried, but the Ramen noodles have a denser consistency.

You can't exactly do that with the cup noodles, as the flavoring is already in it.

ug. I can't eat that garbage  :M

Ironic how that comes from someone who LOVES the taste of manjuice. :orly:

But by far, the cup noodles are far better than the noodles in the bag. And they are still dirt-cheap at 28 cents a cup.

throw a handful of frozen vegetables and a stirred up egg and you have a nice soup.  Maybe some leftover chicken or beef?
