Video games need to stop being video games, apparently.

I think that the biggest detriment to more varieties of games being made which appeal to women and casual gamers, is simply the fact that people who don't love games don't become game designers.

...A fast-forward button. Games almost always include a way to "button through" dialogue without paying attention, because they understand that some players don't enjoy listening to dialogue and they don't want to stop their fun. Yet they persist in practically coming into your living room and forcing you to play through the combats even if you're a player who only enjoys the dialogue.....

..I represent, I think, not only a good number of female players, but a lot of non-hardcore gamers in general. Since most people who go into the games industry are truly passionate gamers, it is hard for them to make a game for people who aren't as into it.

Jennifer Helper, people like you are really "helping" to turn the video game industry into the New Hollywood with that kind of "brilliant" thinking. Skipping the action parts (when I say action, I don't mean just shooting and driving, I mean anything that requires more interactivity than "press a button to advance") with a press of a button? I have a better idea... How about you go into film making or book authoring instead? :wanker:

i doubt she has any ambition (or chance) to change the whole industry.
if she wants a new category of games, where all you do is watch dialogue, then fine really. its her investment, and chicks wallets

i regard this as being in the same category as a lot of dull-as-fuck games, like... "sim golf"

Regular movie DVD's (and Blu-Ray's) are fully capable of this whole "interactive movie" thing.

And CYOA books have been out for years.
