I'm pretty much New Orleans according to the slide show.

But we call them crawdads rather than crawfish most of the time.

I had a friend who spent a lot of time in Florida, he said it was nothing but Northerners who were sick of the snow.

He rented a trailer down there, found out after he signed the lease he went to school with 2 of his neighbors, and used to drink with a 3rd back home.

Pittsburgh has a language all it's own too.

I always called them crawdads too.

My accent seems to be mixed, I guess this is what you get when you're a military brat and move to a different part of the country every 4-5 years. I'm missing much of the Southern accent though.

Have the voice of a nice soft spoken southern lady; it's my only saving grace.

I wouldn't mind that.

I'm between West Virginia and Pittsburgh...so you can only image.

I am fairly loud, with a slightly nasal sound and a piercing "edge" to my voice.  I don't
have the Boston-influenced accent common to my area.  I almost never drop an "r."  :M

Hmm, kinda interesting. But I've never heard of a "drive-thru liquor store" before. :P

Quite common in New Orleans.  In fact there's one about 10 blocks from the Palace.  Medium Daquiris are $5 on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Another one less than a mile , a third one less than 2 miles from here.

When we lived in Houston Tx in the 50's and 60's I always felt slightly uncomfortable going with Mom and Dad to the liquor store.  Although I left New Orleans at 3 1/2 years old, it seemed odd that you couldn't buy liquor in a grocery or drug store.

And Blue Laws?  Heaven forbid!  On a visit to Houston as an adult I couldn't buy some orange marmalade for my FIL on Sunday because it was flavoured with Scotch!

Have lived in other places which had liquor stores with drive-thru windows even with blue law, but New Orleans daiquiri shops were truly unique for the drive through experience of open container booze in a cup with a lid and straw. There was even a bar near our house which had a drive though window.
