since when is DEATH this trivial little thing compared to rape? i realize rape is very very bad and intrusive, but come on. several forms of torture are also extremely intrusive, such as having your intestines pulled out of you. im in no way trying to trivialize rape, im just saying death is worse :I

my point to them was that the thread wasnt about rape at all, but about muslims, and in this context i mentioned that murder is worse, but they dont go around making tons of threads about murder

to which they replied w scepticism to my claim that murder is worse than rape.

but for some 'rape' is a fate worse than death!

i do understand what you are saying,  and for me, death would be worse

but i know how sensitive some folks are and can see that a few might think differently

yes, to me it strikes me as an irrational emotional mindset*, as if rape trumfs everything and anything, from murder, to genocide, to species extinctions, the end of all life, anything :S
people DO recover from rape, i know someone who was molested by her stepfather for years, shes FINE now. not trivializing, just reporting reality: shes fine, she has a husband, a kid, shes fine :I
it belongs to the story that she was un-fine for years, in a lot of trouble growing up, being passed around foster families etc, but NOW shes okay, and has a whole life ahead of her.

and Yes, your right, some recover, some kill themselves. but you can say that about anything bad that can happen to people.
some commit suicide over a breakup. some commit suicide over a lost job.
some lose their entire family, and try to live on w their life - another real life person i know.

it seems "rape" is very "sacred".

Rape would be worse in psychological context that you will likely suffer PTSD for years and as well have recurring flashbacks, where as death, well you won't remember a thing as your brain ceases to function.

Otherwise death is worse obviously in a freedom context, where as a rape victim can get help and move on eventually.
