I saw that.  I really thought he was going to die sooner after that stroke.

I saw a lookalike of Adam today, on the bus.

He even smiled at me, the way Adam does in pics.

Maybe it *was* Adam. :tinfoil:

Maybe it *was* Adam. :tinfoil:

The spiky hair was just too even. And, it was a dark ginger. So, I guess it wasn't Adam, but, who knows.  I should have said "hi, I'm Hyke"

A British tar is a soaring soul,
As free as a mountain bird,
His energetic fist should be ready to resist
A dictatorial word.

His nose should should pant,
and his lip should curl,
His cheeks should flame,
and his brow should furl,
His bosom should heave,
and his heart should glow (protrude),
And his fist be ever ready
for a knock-down blow...

His nose should pant and his lip should curl,
His cheeks should flame and his brow should furl,
His bosom should heave and his heart should glow,
And his fist be ever ready for a knock-down blow.

His eyes should flash with an inborn fire,
His brow with scorn be wrung;
He never should bow down to a domineering frown,
Or the tang of a tyrant tongue.

His foot should stamp,
and his throat should growl,
His hair should twirl,
and his face should scowl,
His eyes should flash,
and his breast protrude,
And this should be his costomary attitude.

His foot should stamp, and his throat should growl,
His hair should twirl, and his face should scowl;
His eyes should flash, and his breast protrude,
And this should be his customary attitude,
His attitude,
His attitude,
His attitude!

Thanks everyone for the kind words and karma points about PA and I mowing the lawn.

Yes, we do have a different love.  He was 42 and I was 34 when we married.  He'd hardly dated because he was so shy and still lived at home with his folks.   I'd hardly dated also.  We'd had a class together at Uni in 1969 and were both interested in each other, but never spoke.  After that class ended I'd spend the first few weeks of each semester keeping an eye out for him.  I didn't know he'd switched from Economics to History, so he was in another building.

Fast forward to 1982 when I attended a singles group and saw him there.  I asked if he had gone to Uni and he said yes.

QV  "Can I get you a cup of coffee?"
PA  "I don't drink coffee."
QV  "Would you like some tea then?"
PA  "I don't drink tea."
QV  "Well, would  you like some hot water?"
PA  The most marvelous, full throated laugh erupted from him and I knew I had him.

We dated for about 2 years before he proposed to me under a shotgun rack (I always claim we had a different kind of shotgun wedding.)  He actually asked my Dad for permission to marry me in front of both sets of parents.

Turns out his mother's family and my Mom's family lived around the corner from each other when they were kids.  All his uncles worked for my Mom's best friend's mother's family business.  And my Mom knew all his uncles.

His Mom and Dad shared a house in WW2 with my Mom's cousin and his wife.

My Dad used to shop at his aunt's husband's grocery store.

Well, you get the picture.  It was destiny that we had to meet some time and we did.

P.S.  Our wedding date is March 15, 1985.

EVERYONE should at least scan this link.  It runs the gamut from the kitchen to the suitcase to first aid and beyond.  They had me at the opening the blasted hard plastic packaging tip.

Uh, Hyke?

Cow and bull 'having relations' stop highway traffic

There those farm animals go again, taking the Beatles' "Why Don't We Do It in the Road" soooo literally.
Traffic on a western Pennsylvania highway came to a standstill this morning, but commuters at least got to see quite a show: namely, a bull and cow "having relations in the road."
"It's right in the construction zone, so it's making a big mess out there," Trooper John Corna said.
Dude, we don't want to know. Police couldn't get the copulating cattle to stop going at it and had to call in folks from the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, who apparently whispered just the right sweet nothings to convince the animals to clear out.
Next time, get a rooooom!
