i love how rioters fight for the same thing, but are always given different labels depending on who they fight against

french rioters were labelled "islamist mujahedin terrorist insurgent scum", surely they fought for.. idunno... the right to rape your own sister or something, isnt that what terrorists/arabs/islamist/pedophiles are all about? probably.

egyptian rioters are quickly labelled heroes and brave freedom fighters. probably cus theyre fighting islamist regimes, monarchies, and such, probably chanting "no more! i am not a pedophile!"

burmese rioters were seen as divine buddhas. people cried even when nothing much happened. people just walking "OMG THATS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!"

one thing they all have in common:
once the crackdown is over, nobody remembers anything. yawn.

Apparently, the rioters were using Facebook and Twitter to coordinate their protests.

They tried just cutting off Egyptian access to those two sites but everyone was just bypassing it with proxy servers.

I'm just very relieved that my husband was already home before this all started.  He was there a month ago.

My sister's mother-in-law is in Egypt at the moment, but I doubt she's in much danger.

This mornings newspaper told of civilians making food for the soldiers, and soldiers and civilians, no matter what religious back-ground, standing side by side.

^That's the angle I read in the paper today too. A common enemy does bring people together.

Me too, even though he's insisting that he wouldn't be in any danger whatsoever if he was there right now.  He says he would just hire someone to drive him to the Israeli border and walk across, then call someone he knows in Israel to pick him up from there.

It's very cool that he got to see the pyramids and the museum in Cairo while he was there, though.

^ I'm glad he's back safe also.

It's one thing for people to say it's no big deal, but they had a 19 year old Australian girl on the news last night and she was crying to try and get home. Being in a strange country can be daunting at the best of times. Watching people being beaten, shot and killed on top of that and just wanting to get to safety would be awful.

But there is a far bigger issue at stake here, considering how this could affect the entire middle east.

If the Egyptians successfully force out Mubarak, a domino effect of revolutions could be sparked throughout the entire middle east. If Mubarak successfully contains the revolt by violent means, the outrage will be so enraging it would end up inspiring the exact same result, but with more reluctance.
Existence actually has two broad meanings despite its apparent meaningless. The constant reconciliation of all its parts, and the conservation of any closed system as a whole.

Morality can be extrapolated from these meanings to make these two commandments of godless morality: 1). Be in harmony with one another and 2). Care for the environment.
