Toast on margerine? Or margerine on toast?

Toast on (or IN!) margarine sounds decadent! You could serve it at parties, in little casserole dishes!

Toast on margerine? Or margerine on toast?

You suggest that people should eat tubs of margarine with bread on top? Soph would say that you would make a good American.

If you learn to cook, one day you can cook something nice for her!   :toporly:

No. I was questioning what Butterflies wrote:
I do have a thing for toast on margerine at the moment though. It is very easy. Even I can't screw that up.

Toast on margarine is what happens when you trip and it slides off the plate and onto the floor... :green:
I can cook reasonably well and healthily...
I just can't be in the kitchen without a very nosy and annoying mother hanging round interfering...
I eat fairly healthy mircowave stuff for speed in getting out of the kitchen  :(

Yes, toast unfortunately tends to land on the floor butter-side-down!

It's good to start with simple things. I can make pasta, grilled cheese, scrambled eggs,
and thanks to my day job I am learning to make other things as well.

I can cook a mean fry-up. Egg, bacon, tattie scones, and rolls. It's lovely, but not very healthy, so I only have one every couple of months. The sad thing is, it's the only thing I'm actually good at making :( :( :(

Maybe you could start with some other egg dishes.  :viking:

Sadly not. I know how to fry an egg. It's easy. That is the limit of my skills :-[ :-[ :-[  I'm not talented when it comes to cooking. I do have a thing for toast on margerine at the moment though. It is very easy. Even I can't screw that up.

Next time you make toast, try sneaking in a slice of cheese. Voila! Toasted cheese sandwich!   :hadron:

I actually have a weird hatred of cheese. I love pizza though. It makes no sense

Toast on margerine? Or margerine on toast?

A slice of toast, with margerine spread on it. For some reason most people here would say "toast on marge" rather than "marge on toast."  We also say "toast on bacon" rather than "bacon on toast." Also a chicken sandwich would often be called a "piece on chicken".

I'm not sure if it's a British thing, or just a Scotland/N.ireland thing. It does look a bit silly when you read it and think about what you're actually saying though.

If it is unsafe to cook, then don't go for it. I mean if you would keep forgetting that you had things on the stove and such.
But otherwise, learning some basic things would be good. Your Mum won't be around all the time in your life. Sad, but true.

I do do some stuff - I can do  my own pizzas, although I usually get my mum to tell me when they're ready to take out as I can't tell myself (not making excuses - I genuinely can never tell until they loook burnt lol)

And I do my own pot noodles, cheese potatos and sandwiches

Apart from take aways, that is all I eat usually

So my mum doesn't have to cook for me unless she's doing a proper dinner (which is for the whole family anyway) except with my pizzas

I think it is good to know your own limitations. That makes it possible to find ways to work around it. And, by the looks of it, you are doing that.

Maybe one day you can add microwave menus to your repertoire too. And, making salads may work, if you can deal with raw veggies that is.

I use the microwave a lot - for my potatos mainly and sometimes microwave chips. They're easier as I can tell when the potaotaos are done by putting the fork in to the bottom of it and feeling if the potato on it is warm. And the chips I just put in for the 2 minutes it says.

I hate vegetables though - I did try salad once in school but I didnt eat much of it lol

If I lived on my own I would eat the same stuff I have now, so I'm not completely dependant on my mum for food. I also contribute financially - I buy my own food usually and my mum is free to use my money whenever she wants, although she doesn't I don't think
