Circumcision

I'm guessing no one here would think female circumcision should be allowed, but what about male circumcision? People were talking about this on wp recently. I don't think parents should be able to circumcise their kids, whatever sex they are. That should be something only the person themselves should have control over

WOW! Soph posted a topic that's actually interesting to discuss. Wonders never cease. 

Male circumcision isn't quite as bad as female, but still bad nonetheless.

You loose something like 30% of your sensitivity with no real benefit.

I know, there's people who will say that there's studies that say that it improves hygene and reduces STD's, but those studies have come under severe attack recently and will probaby be de-bunked by the scientific community.

Circumcision is a barbaric practice closely tied to religion and should be treated with the contempt that all religious fuckwittery should be dealt with.

I agree with all the above (apart from that it's shocking for me to start an interesting topic )

Because of the association with religion though, a lot of people who would otherwise think it wrong seem to think it's ok - because we don't want to offend the religious people 

Mutilating a child's genitals is pretty creepy at best, so I don't understand why people don't speak out against it more. Similar to the way people try not to assiciate the Catholic Church with the sex abuse, when they would boycott any other organisation so renowned for abusing kids

I don't get that reshaping of baby genitals.


Couple of weeks ago I heard a woman tell her husband was not happy that the GP thought the baby needed circumcision quickly. The boy could hardly pee. Dad was against it, because he wanted it to be done ritually, when the kid was about a year.

Funny how it is a thing of "fashion" too.

In the seventies circumcision of boys was done a lot in English speaking countries, now, that isn't the case, but we get females getting their labia reshaped when they are 18.

i honestly have no problem with circumcision for medical reasons. i have been circumcised because i apparently kept getting infections but all i remember about that is that it burned to pee a lot... for all i know i could have had an STD and been abducted by alien and been given the cure over night, then circumcised the next day... but for fassions sake and for religious sake not gonna lie its rather disturbing

i said that wrong.  most of the american porn stars are circumcised and the porn industry believes it is how folks like to view it?  if i knew a male porn star i would ask,  but i am guessing if its pulled back for the camera anyway - then just get rid of it....but i don't really know

European male pornstars are usually not circumcised. Same thing with most Asian ones.
