Thanks guys :green:

You can buy booze here at 18, although nobody pays attention to the age limit. Most young kids have little bother getting alcohol. I know I'd been able to get into some pubs while I was 15, and I must have looked about 12 then

happy birthday
idunno about scottish laws, but in norway your old enough to buy liquor!

21 is our last age limit for anything, theyll let you into the booze-shop :D (yes we have a separate gvt ran shop for hard liquors)

I believe that the limit is 16 in the UK with adult supervision and 18 without adult supervision.

I actually didn't know that. It just goes to show how little attention people pay to the drink laws here.

In America, catching underage drinkers is a big business. There is a lot of propaganda about the dangers of underage drinking, all of which mysteriously go away on a person's twenty-first birthday. America has less-than-ideal drug laws, in all areas.

Often the  :police:  will send underaged operatives into bars or stores to attempt to buy alcohol.

Indeed. In some places, young people who go to a bar need two forms of state-issued ID, and almost everywhere requires at least one form of ID.

I know. The drug laws are mad there. I've heard of people getting into trouble for having small amounts of canabis. Over here the police will probably give you a warning. My cousin was arrested once, and was on his way to the opolice station. The police told him to "get rid of anything he had" and he was able to throw it out the window.
I've seen films set n America, and some underage drinkers seem scared of getting caught. Over here all that happens is the police bring you back to you parents and let them deal with it. And that's just younger kids. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone over 16 getting busted for underage drinking.

That happens here I think. Selling drink to underagers is seen as a bit more of a serious issue than drinking underage.

Possession of cannabis is a crime everywhere federally, although the federal government and some states have different laws for medical marijuana patients. With a small amount of marijuana, most offenders are let off with a warning or a fine because of overcrowded jails.

That happens here I think. Selling drink to underagers is seen as a bit more of a serious issue than drinking underage.

Yes. Selling to underage individuals is usually considered a criminal offense and, if proof exists, usually leads to an arrest. Supplying an underage individual without the exchange of money or other consideration is legally the same as selling the alcohol.

I always thought Norway was really liberal. That sounds terrible. I thought Scandinavia would be a cool place to live. That sounds like a police state :(

it is liberal we're just terrified of drugs
other illegal stuff, such as moonshine, the cops dont care at all. drinking in public (outside of a bar/cafe) is also illegal, a cop once told me "at least dont drink it so openly  ::)" so they ARE pretty liberal and lax on most issues

just not on weed :I

May you have a Royal day, Crowned with lots of presents, be the Queen of your house, and be emblazoned with jewels.  If not, then get roaring drunk and have a blast.
A good monarch is a treasure. A good politician is an oxymoron.

My brain is both uninhibited and uninhabited.
