Indeed. In some places, young people who go to a bar need two forms of state-issued ID, and almost everywhere requires at least one form of ID.

I know. The drug laws are mad there. I've heard of people getting into trouble for having small amounts of canabis. Over here the police will probably give you a warning. My cousin was arrested once, and was on his way to the opolice station. The police told him to "get rid of anything he had" and he was able to throw it out the window.
I've seen films set n America, and some underage drinkers seem scared of getting caught. Over here all that happens is the police bring you back to you parents and let them deal with it. And that's just younger kids. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone over 16 getting busted for underage drinking.

it is liberal we're just terrified of drugs
other illegal stuff, such as moonshine, the cops dont care at all. drinking in public (outside of a bar/cafe) is also illegal, a cop once told me "at least dont drink it so openly  " so they ARE pretty liberal and lax on most issues
