What Would You Do
« on: October 17, 2006, 01:32:19 PM »
if you came across a book, and the person whose name is written inside of it instantly dies? Would you keep it, destroy it, etc.?
George:I'd say I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not. I excel at not giving a shit. Experience has taught me that interest begets expectation, and expectation beget disappointment, so the key to avoiding disappointment is to avoid interest. A equals B equals C Equals A, or whatever. I also don't have a lot of interest in being a good person or a bad person. From what I can tell, either way, you're screwed. Bad people are punished by society's laws, and good people are punished by Murphy's Law

It depends on whom the person was and my relationship with him/her, what the book was and why the person in question died.

I have a very important book that was passed down and people who owned it had died, which didnt affect me, it made me treasure it more. But like Callaway says, it depends on the book etc, the significance, the relationship of the person to you etc, also would they have liked someone to keep that book and enjoy it the same way they did and so on.

Listen bottom line is Sorceress it could be worse, someone could have handed you the video from "the ring" ;) Sorry if that was making light of something you are worrying about.

I'd post about it on /b/ and take requests.
And as always, these are simply my worthless opinions.

Because if it really did happen to you, i have an alternative piece of advice.  I would instead recommend you mail the book to Colin Mengel at 31726 Windsor, garden city michigan, 48135.  He'll give you a shiney penny for it.

I'd sell it on ebay.
it is well known that PMS Elle is evil.
I think you'd fit in a 12" or at least a 16" firework mortar

Let me clarify a bit more. It's the basis of the anime Death Note. A student comes across a book with the words Death Note written on the cover. It has instructions claiming that when you write the name of a person inside of the book, that person will die. What would you do if you ever came across a book like that? Would you keep it, destroy it, etc.? (I hope this clears up things).

I'd destroy it because there would be too much temptation for me to use it on others or even myself in low moments.  Unless I got it in a low moment, in which case there would be trouble.

I'd put names of people who were already dead in it, just to see what happens.
