oooh one game im getting back once i have more spectacular ram is "hearts of iron II", its tailormade for aspies
its a big ol world map, and a ww2 setting, but whats so kickass is all the programming is based on notepad and excel files, so you can easily tweak the game any way you want

secondly, the world regions are all-inclusive, so if you wanna play ww2 and INSIST on being... paraguay! yes paraguay totally, you can! of course, you cant do shit as paraguay, cus paraguay sucks, and the game's realistic like that but i love it.

now, since all the worlds regions and countries and country regions are included, once your done killing hitler, you can tweak further, and begin to decolonize africa and whatnot. its fully possible to switch countries between saves
ill usually play ussr, follow historical events closely, then "fix" africa and asia, make sure communist china wins, and expels nationalist china to taiwan, ill closely monitor the korean war, to make sure it divides properly, then end it
to me its an history-geek aspies dream

ive had saves where i am russian federation in the 90s, where i am battling chechnya i make flags in mspaint

only fuckup is, if you make ONE rushed error, while tweaking, your whole save-file is fucked, unless you manage to locate the error again :I

its probably THE most boring/detail-intensive game ever hurray!

actually, while searching for hyper-detailed "world games" i came across europa universalis, but i found it very limited
like i said, you can zoom out, and you have the whole world. if you make so all historical events occur, you may even get a message that peru has attacked ecuador (this did happen during ww2), and if the AI doesnt get too buggy (oh it might ) peru will end the war, and keep its conquest (which it keeps to this day), all for the sake of realism i love it

"hearts of iron 3" exists, and is even more detailed, however i seriously doubt it can be customized as easily, and that was more than half the charm in my opinion.
whenever i up my computer, i think ill still revert back to "HOI2" rather than 3 just for that

I just noticed when I was looking at the reviews for HOI that it's made by the same people that made Europa Universalis. That probably explains why it looks so similar . I lost EU when I broke my computer and had to reset it, losing everything I hadn't backed up I'd been meaning to download EU for a while, but I'll download HOI2 instead, and if I like it I'll download HOI3

i didnt know theyre the same developers

the games are strictly meant as a ww2 history game, so ill stick to HOI2 simply because i can re-design it to take me into modern times, and have modern world issues.
with a TON of patience, you can even create the "war on terror"
but even HOI2 _ends_ after 1948, UNLESS you manually change that in the game files (some patient exploring around, and you should have most of it figured out. theres a tooon of files, but a pretty clear cut system to it all)

what i fear is since HOI3 is newer and better, theyve probably used more advanced programming, making it more difficult, or even impossible, to tweak it into becoming a "fully fledged" world-game.
