I'm not too fussed about being a "legend" , Fame is pretty trivial to me ,I mean I like reading about celebrities and etc but actual fame for myself? meh.

I'd rather stay on earth where I am happiest than travel to a distant planet with no option to turn back if I hated it.

I don't think most of you guys understand how awesome this is. You would become a legend, AND you'd get to go on the adventure of a lifetime. Hell more than a lifetime. Theres only one chance to go on this mission, and its the first of its kind.

Well, that's another way to aim for an afterlife. Becoming a legend.

But you would never be able to come back to Earth to enjoy you legendary status. What's the point of being a legend if you're not around to enjoy it?

Exactly. You'd be up there  completely and permanently separated from the rest of the world. 

And what happens as these eldery astraunauts die. I'd hate to be the last one left alive, once the other three have died. Being the only person on a planet would be the lonliest way to live out your final years.

Internet would make things a lot easier I have to admit, but I'm not sure they would be able to give you internet on Mars
