Wow, that is scary.  It's a lot easier to try even younger children as adults in court now, but I'm not so sure that's a good thing.

Of course it's a good thing. Especially if the child took someone's life. :wanker:

OK, then where do you draw the line?

Suppose someone gave a twelve year old a gun and told them to shoot some person the adult had a grudge against?

Should the child be tried as an adult?

Yes. Because the child was the one who committed the act of murder.

OK, if that's your position, then what if the child is six when he shoots someone with a gun and kills them?

Should the six year old be tried as an adult?

This thread and the thread on underage abortion seem that they should be intertwined.

Why, because of this?

No, some people argue that underage persons are capable of making an informed decision about abortion, but then say that underage persons aren't capable of deciding not to commit a crime and shouldn't be treated as adults.  Maybe not people on Intensity, but some people I've read.

NO ONE should ever be forced to give birth against her will, no matter how old she is.

I've heard similar frustration over the fact that, at least in the U.S., someone can drive at 16,
serve in the military at 18, but still not drink legally till 21.   :chin:
