I prefer to see toilet seats (and lids!) left down all the time when the toilet is not in use.
I think the bathroom just looks cleaner that way.  :P

Nevermind the seat. The lid should be left down and closed before flushing to prevent the spread of germs.

Funny thing is, it was a male who first insisted I do this and explained the mist emitted from a flushing toilet.

Keep the towels in the closet and nothing is left on the counter but alarm clock and soap pump, not really for the germ thing though, just prefer the clutter free look. Do have hand towel hanging next to the sink for hand drying though.

I never understood why women were complaining about the dunny seat being left up, or men not putting it up. They have hands, what's wrong with putting the seat down yourselves?

I've always put the toilet lid down because I have an aversion to all the rushing water when I flush.
