I like seeing the difference in the terrain, architecture etc in everyone's pics.

Eek a boat traffic jam   Looks nice

It looks exciting! Odeon, do you have a boat too?   :orly:

As a matter of fact I do.

But this particular image was taken when the sailing ship (a replica of an 18th century East Indian trader) prominently displayed in the foreground of this picture was leaving on her maiden voyage. It's not always that crowded.

Did I even see  that ship? If so, it didn't register in my brain.  :duh: :duh: :duh:

:agreed:  Love the architecture in the first three photos. That last pic looks like an entirely different place.  :-\

How old is that massive church?   :orly:

at first it was old romanesque (i dont know if that's a word :D ) church, built in 11th century, later in the beginning of 14th century they rebuilt it completely in gothic style. since then it was destroyed, burned down, reconstructed and burned down again, and they're still working on its reconstruction now :D

So is anything left of the 11th century material?  :'(

I'm not a very disciplined reader, but if I could time-travel, I'd go to the Middle Ages in a heartbeat, especially medieval Britain!
Of course, I'd want to be inoculated against the Black Death first, if such an inoculation exists.  :chin:
