. I am not sure if I read your post right, but savant skills are not a reflection of IQ, or that is my understanding. From what I have read, it is a neurological difference outside of the autism spectrum, but they are not mutually exclusive. In other words, not all autistics have savant skills, and not all savants have autism. There are cases of savantism in Down Syndrome, mental retardation and brain injury. What I find ironic but not surprising, I guess, is that I have savant like skills in language, among other things, yet I also have dyslexia.
