Whats the longest you've ever owned a computer

I've owned 3 or 4 in my life, and the longest one ive owned was for like 3 years. it was a laptop but the screen finally burnt out on it and i couldnt find another one that would match the very stubborn adaptor on it. my desktop lasted like a year and a half and finally died, i did have another laptop, but in a drunken rage punched the screen because it was on dialup and i needed it to be faster

this new one i've had for about a month and it better last atleast two years  >:(

I was given a second hand ZX Spectrum when I was about 2 and it was already about 12 years old. I still have it somewhere at my parents. I've owned it for 18 years and it's about 30 years old.  :laugh:

1st one: 1999-2002
2nd one: 2002-2008
3rd one: 2008-present.

Laptops:

1st one: 2007-2009
2nd one: 2009-present.

I had an amiga aswell. I think it was A600, and an Atari ST 520. I got the hand me downs  :laugh: . That was the early part of the 2000's. They were both well out of date then.

I have bought my first computer (that I have owned) in 2008, a Compaq Presario desktop. Ever since then, the computer has went through a power supply upgrade, graphics card upgrade (from integrated to Nvidia 9500GT, major improvement), and an OS upgrade (from Windows Vista to 7). Still works just like new. :green:

Yo, Butterflies, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but the Amiga A600 was one of the worst computers of all time! One of the worst computers of all time!

i have this laptop for maybe..6 years now. but it wasn't new when i got it. it's slow and stupid and I hate it...
I have normal one, but my dad has it now :( I miss it..:(

2nd one: 2008-now.

I didn't get into computers (mostly the internet until I was 14 though).

All of them were used when I got them with the exception of one that I built.

Normally about 3 to 4 years, then I usually take them apart, save what I might need & scrap the rest.

Picked a 1 to 2 year old machine from the neighbors scrap pile last fall, gave it to mom after I cleaned a ton of adware off of the hard drive. Amazing how many people will invest in a good setup then run it with expired security or none at all...then set them out curbside when it starts to screw up. :thumbup:

I usually wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OS when I sell a computer. Last thing I need is something confidential being found or my porn stash being discovered, I mean how embarrassing. :aff:

Never a good idea to rid of a computer that hasn't been wiped properly. All it takes is good file recovery software to retrieve 'deleted' files.

usually, i take a big fat drill bit to the C drive and put as many holes in it, as possible. that way i know nobodys getting anything on me

 :plus: anyways, thats good advice
