the flaw of big-shot hollywood actors
« on: October 09, 2010, 04:24:50 PM »

i can see you nichlas

nichlas cage is an actor. he is NOT involved in ww2.
it is not believable and it ruins the whole movie for me.

HI NICHLAS CAGE! Having a fun day at the SET? Oh, watch out for those jap-actors! Wow, that was a nice pyrotechnic effect, Nichlas, you really dodged that one like a hero!
sit tight tho, maybe
Sean Penn
can help you out!

"men men men men menly men"

okay, he wasnt so famous at the time tho, so ill let charlie go for that one. still, its ruined NOW :D

There are very few actors.  Most of them do the same acting technique in every movie.  The classic example is John Wayne.

One of the men I consider to be an actor is Robin Williams.  He was perfect in Popeye.  Never for a moment was I aware I was watching Robin Williams.  He also does drama well, The Fisher King, and numerous comedies.

One of the women I consider to be an actress is Whoopie Goldberg.  Compare her performances in The Color Purple and Ghost Story.  Completely different.

Just my humble opinion.

weakling: if an actor manages the near-impossible, to blend seamlessly into his character, then theyre truly doing their job right.
but as long as i can even tell who they are, its sortof ruined for me :D

norway is terrible, cus we have like 4 actors..

Sean Penn is an actor for sure, when I first watched I am Sam and did not know Sean Penn at all, I thought they really put some intellectually disabled guy to play in the film, he was that fucking believable.

i recognize him anywhere
BUT
i find that it also depends a lot on the director how much he is prepared to PUSH his actors.
if an actor is thoroughly pushed, he can perform well enough to blend better into the character

like theres titanic dicaprio, and aviator dicaprio, i find those two to be almost two totally separate people

John Turturro is an excellent actor. Quiz Show is excellent drama and so was his role as Howard Cosell.

oh and "favorite actors" is not the debate,

its the fact that stars are re-used way too much.
a movie is supposed to be believable, not to showcase a certain star-actors latest feat.
in my opinion anyway

i'd prefer if actors only ever acted once. then were fired. forever :zoinks:

DID YOU KNOW
birds of paradise's closest relatives are crows?
theyre essentially the next crowyest thing. asiatic crows are allready very colorful, so the differences between the groups are only minor.

Crow has a rather gamey, oily taste.
