Personally, Turney should have faced manslaughter charges.

I agree.  As a parent of a child with special needs, it makes me very nervous for her to have any contact with police given what happened in the Paul Childs and Gregory Smith cases.  Turney shot and killed both of these disabled teenagers.

BOTH??

And they only gave him a desk-job and dismissed any disciplinary measures?

What the hell are these idiots in the force doing.

Fair enough if there had been a real threat, like face to face or if someone had had a gun or something, but a disabled kid whom the parents had warned the police first of the disability, and Turney still went in cocksure and killed them anyway.

He should have been sacked after the first offence, and sent to prison like anyone else, because he went outside the call of duty.

I agree with you.  Turney also threatened to shoot and kill his former mother-in-law the day before he shot and killed Paul Childs.  I think the reviewer upheld a tiny suspension, like a one week suspension and a day without pay, because of the threat to his former MIL.  However, police chief Whitman gave Turney a desk job when he came back to work, which was within Whitman's discretion to do and not subject to appeal by Turney or the policeman's union.  LaCabe had ordered that Turney be assigned to a desk job when he returned from his ten month suspension, but that had also been overturned on appeal.

What's the bet he gets his pension after 20 years service, and leaves with a 'spotless' record?

The chickens are coming home to roost. The more cops pull shit like this, the more people will distrust them and the politicians who give them their marching orders (i.e., laws).  Even white people are beginning to understand what blacks and Latinos have understood for decades: the po-po are NOT your friends. If they come on like they are, say NOTHING. Ask "Am I under arrest? Can I go now?" If they keep asking questions, ask for a lawyer. Repeatedly.

"The War on Drugs is a pretext to extend police powers."--WSB
"If you're in trouble, don't call a cop--call a hippie."--Anon. (common Zen savvy from the Sixties)

I will not deal with them unless necessary.  They have a way of twisting things to make you guilty I have seen them do it

There will need to be a huge shift in people's attitudes towards the police before there's any significant improvement.  Whenever I see a video on Youtube of police misconduct, the comments section is littered with people defending the police, no matter how blatantly criminal their actions were.  Take these for instance:

The people who blame the cop just because they don't like them are the true idiots here.. Even if someone else isn't driving safe you still need to be alert and be driving defensively. Can't always blame other people for accidents, sometimes you need to look at what your doing too.

cops are within there rights to speed with or without lights, number 1 and number 2, you cant tell me that if those kids had been in the right frame of mind to be driving they would not have seen him. i agree that maybe he should not have been going that fast, but come on people what if it was your house that was being robbed. i agree with madman, 100% of posters placing a comment like that have something illegal going on. and if you dont pay them to who will. cops are always going to be needed

besides what one of you that talk down on cops are going to stand up and take there place. who would take a bullet to protect the very people that will hate him simply because he upholds the law. Im going to make a guess that none of you would. so here is my suggestion, how about you take a criminal justice class learn what a cop can and can not do before putting ur 2 cents in.

those are of course the ones who never had any cop-issues whatsoever, and are whoring out their righteousness as much as they can.

Actually I have one for a neighbor, known him & his current wife for years. Quiet, they like to keep to themselves, both of them are pretty cool.

But then I basically live in Bum Fuck, Egypt and wouldn't count on this being the case elsewhere.
