Walking
« on: September 24, 2010, 02:47:14 PM »
Just a question where do you look when you walk?   I always look down toward my feet more than anywhere else and find all kinds of things on the ground.  my wife finds it odd but my son does the same thing.  Just something on my over active mind has been pondering

Usually at the ground. Mostly to avoid eye contact with people. If I'm out in the countryside where there aren't other peopple, I'd normally look around.

Usually at the ground so I won't mis-step and fall.

At the ground but sometimes on the people around me (unless they look at me, in which case I avert my eyes).

I always look at the ground, unless I see an animal of some sort or something distracting like Christmas lights.

I look at the ground a lot so I don't step in anything.

Not quite to the ground but not quite at eye level either, halfway between, maybe looking at peoples kneecaps :P. I generally miss seeing people I know if I walk past them (off in own world when I'm walking as well)

I agree. I also get a repetitive kind of meditation from walking which makes me automatically look at the ground so I can watch the ground "move" beneath my feet and help me to concentrate on internal processes.

HHmmmm sounds nice.
