Christmas is my favourite holiday. I get ridiculously happy when it gets dark enough to turn the tree on.  :santa:

Baby steps, Bodie.  Today the jacket, tomorrow the bike!   :viking:

I love to cook, but I find baking overwhelming and I don't know why  :tard:

You're not the only one.  A friend of mine says her daughter is a great cook but a terrible baker.
I suspect it's because baking requires more exact measurements ... or something.   :tard:

^ Um, I have p/m the same thing. Not certain as of why also.

Maybe.. the mess it tends to make? The time it takes in the oven? The times it went wrong before? The disappointment from that? More precise measurements of the ingredients? The oven making noise in the process to pre-heat the føcker?

The latter makes me go hyper and quite stressy.

Dunno.. prolly the summa of said stuff..

:agreed: although my oven doesn't make any noise when it's preheating. So many people find baking relaxing. I find it stressful though. I bake so infrequently that my kids nearly died from happiness when I made oatmeal chocolate chip muffins last week.

Aww...thank you :) They definitely appreciate the little things and that's one thing I'm most proud of. Now they are typical kids and christmas morning when all the presents are open you'll hear a "what? no more gifts? that's it? awwww!" despite everything they got, like most kids. But for the most part they're pretty great ;)

Cookig is quite a bit easier, you can fudge the recipe a bit here and there and it will still turn out okay. Baking is closer to chemistry. All the ingredients need to be just right, and measured in weight, not volume.

And I sucked at chemistry so that explains a lot right there

I was bad at chemistry too!  I failed it one year and squeaked by with a D the next!
I suspect that D was a gift, as I doubt the poor teacher wanted to deal with me
three years in a row!  My mother would have freaked out if I'd had to stay back!  :tard:

Funny, my mother told me yesterday that my grandmother was a great cook, but that she couldn't do baking.

I like baking, when in the mood. I just jumble things together for my quiches, and they turn out well almost always. Nothing tricky with measurements. Same with things like muffins or bread.

I can do upside down chocolate moo things!
