I've done some mushroom growing myself actually. Although I always used a combination of isopropanol and peroxide rather than hypochlorite to sterilize the containers and tools.

Done some Agaricus spp., Psilocybe cubensis, and P.cyanescens; one of the woodlovers.
Just building a portable (ish...somewhat, sort-of at any rate) sterile hood at the moment, need to do the airlocks and glove ports, then I'll be ready to experiment with culturing ergot (Claviceps purpurea, a parasite of rye, and other cereal grains and grasses)

Going to be doing the culture on agar plates in there, and mutagen work to obtain a good productive strain before transfer to bubble-column or stirred tank bioreactors for actual alkaloid production and harvest. been reading up and doing my research into all the various finer details that are needed to ensure good yields.

Should be a lot of fun (not to mention profitable), even if its probably the most ambitious mycology project I've ever attempted.
Beyond the pale. Way, way beyond the pale.

I remember the smell of burning leaves and grass.

If that's all you remember, it must have been the good stuff. :stoned:

DD--that's an *awesome* sub setup.

Yeah.

I suppose that you can also see that I am never satisfied and I am still exploring, even at my age.

In my back yard I have a four hundred pound twenty eight cubic foot enclosure that should do a fine job of activating the back yard with awesome sound. (I think I mentioned it is a five way).  Dual eighteens, dual fifteens, dual twelves, single four inch horn and dual super tweet bullets. It is tri-amped - the twelves and horns are on one signal above twelve hundred Hz (crossed passively, three hundred watts per side).  The lowers are all crossed electronically, using dual DbX . Two thousand watts on the eighteens and an additional two thousand watts on the the fifteens and one thousand watts on the twelves plus the three hundred watts on the uppers.

Only thing I regret at this point is that I did not build into the system a motor with which to move the enclosures around to get the best sound.

 :autism:

... but see. I am still exploring.

Unfortunately, now I am out of unused Crowns for power.

:plus: for the backyard sound.

Bleach is a good smell too.
I used to water mushroom trays after the mushrooms were picked, chlorine used to be set up at 200ppm (parts per million). Doesn't sound like much but I used to have to wear a heavy duty mask and raincoat. My hands probably ended up sterile every time though.

Smelling too much bleach can give you symptoms like you have the worst hay fever. I used to get that if I tried watering at work without a mask. Not worth it.
Bleach for household cleaning is recommended at one teaspoon per gallon, which is 65ppm. It's not an overwhelming smell, just smells clean.
Yeah 65ppm should be fine. You can still smell it but it is not overwhelming.

They still can be, if you move to the Netherlands. :arrr:

Make haste then. They are making it harder and harder to legally enjoy the green stuff. We're having a semi liberal government here at the moment, and since liberal (right wing) is in power, the liberties around soft drugs are getting less and less.

We have three liberal parties here, liberal left wing, more left than the socialist party, liberal middle ground, and liberal right wing. The latter is proving itself to be less and less liberal, lately.

We only have a few more years till marijuana becomes radioactive.

Hmm...but supposedly it cures cancer, so maybe it will cancel out.   :apondering:
Can't you guys even just imagine it?

Forget practicality, or your experience....can you just....imagine?

It's there. It always was.

My sense of hearing in excellent but I have a hard time filtering things,  a lot of times everything is just jumbled  noise.

Same. Makes having a conversation in public difficult some days.

I am the same too. Was trying to hear someone from my walking group talk while in a cafe but the noise was so great that I could barely hear a thing.

My last hearing test results showed that my hearing was very good.

Language processing isn't about hearing. Have poor hearing so it's hard to tell sometimes if it's my hearing that's the issue or not.
