I wore special corrective  shoes when I was young to fix the way I walk

Parts, that reminds me.

I had to wear a special belly button band (wide elastic with a round disk in front with a bump that went into my navel) when I was an infant to prevent a hernia or something.

Here's a modern day one from the internet.

When I was little (about 4 I think) I had to wear a patch over my right eye to make my left eye work otherwise the doctors said I would go blind in the left eye. My mum just told me about that not long ago, I had no idea.

I remember wearing the patch though and how annoying it was.

I had to do the same but at a younger age.

Do you remember it? You are the only person I know to have similar eye issues to me.

How is your healing eye by the way?

Simplification:

Sounds like "lazy eye" AKA  amblyopia.  It's when the brain uses one eye for seeing.  If the brain isn't forced to use the other eye the brain won't recognize or use the weak or lazy eye.  So they cover the good eye forcing the brain to see through the weaker one and preserving vision through both eyes.

Yes, I remember. It was a pain. I got my first glasses when I was around two or three, and the patch inside the thick glasses was so bad that I made sure that it was a pain to my mum as well.

It's getting better, thanks. It's still sensitive and itchy, and people tend to stare at the eye because it's still red, but I think it will be fine, eventually. Right when it's time for my next op.

Yes, that's basically it.

Weeding my garden brings my energy down and makes me really calm. I've been known to go and do my neighbours garden when I've run out of weeds in my own. They love me for that.

Did you go for X-rays or CAT scans either time?  Even brief unconsciousness sounds scary.   :orly:

I began wearing glasses at about age 7.  I am very nearsighted!   :nerdy:

I love birds.. well, since childhood days, I think.. and I 'inherited' this 'philos' from my grandfather and father. Glad I did too.

Um, for a couple of years now I've made friends with my garden Blackbird (Turdus merula) and like a (house) pet he tends to beg for
food on quite a regular basis now. Well, he hops around the bench I'm sitting on outside and makes little noises.. and um, I 'sweet'-talk or
whistle something back.

And um, get inside to get him some food..

Think with a little effort I could make the chap eat out of my hand (did that with a perfectly wild turtle dove before) but think now,
that's too much interference on my part in the natural scheme of things.
