Yes, we know about Paris, Rome, Phuket.  But what weird, out of the way place would you like to visit?

My childhood wish list: Tasmania, Transylvania, and the Isle of Man.  :nerdy:

Svalbard, Norway, would be awesome.

So many out-of-the-way places are now overrun with tourists from Mainland China.

Years ago a lady I worked with did a fishing expedition up to a remote spot in the North Wesr of Australia. Completely uninhabited. They took lots of photos and wrote a feature article in a fishing magazine based on their experiences. I'd like to do something like that.

My friend is doing a 5,000 km road trip from Thailand to Northern India, through Myanmar, in October. Too adventurous for me.

Someplace uninhabited and warm. Preferably near the ocean.

Find an island, give me provisions for a month, and a tent....drop me off. :asthing:

I've been on a couple of road trips around Indonesia, to places where not many white people go. Also I've been on some road trips around Thailand, but they are more used to white people. I went to the casino in Cambodia, just across the border from Thailand. All along the road there are skull and crossbones signs to warn people not to enter the jungle, as it is still full of landmines.

In 2002 I caught the train down to Belgrade with my then girlfriend, I saw one building where you could actually see where a cruise missile had punched a cruise-missile shaped hole through the wall and then exploded further into the building. Some of the locals were really friendly, happy to see foreigners, joking with my girlfriend about her funny accent (her Serbian apparently sounded very funny because she pronounced a lot of words Polish style). Some of the locals were a little hostile. It was interesting.

It's those funny incidental trips to places where hardly anyone speaks English that are the most fun.

and the Isle of Man.  :nerdy:

I live in Lancashire, so it's fairly easy to go if you want. We have a ferry service at Heysham.

I will remember that if I am ever in the UK.  :)

Cuenca, Ecuador, Chiang Mai, Morocco, Czech Republic,
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

I would like to go to Japan again. There is so much there to see. Winter time when it snows there would be good.
