One can't convince a homphobe otherwise through argument alone, no matter how rational. But then their opinions don't matter, provided they're not out lynching. To each his own.
The problem being that most religious individuals, in particular Christians, have an oxymoronic drive to simultaneously save and damn everyone. "Spread the word and then shake the dust from your feet" was more relevant in a day when your neighboring towns didn't KNOW about Christianity. Most people nowadays are familiar, some to the point of having been Christians and then having found another faith or become agnostics or atheists.
Spreading the word doesn't mean drag 'em kicking and screaming to heaven or hell. But it's a righteous indignation to feel one is the savior of the world. That's called having a God Complex, folks.
Christ taught humility, including intellectual. Not Knowitall-ism.
