I'm in college, working my way up for a degree in Astronomy.
Meant to ask you: what are you planning to specialise in, within astronomy?
So far it looks like either radio or observational astronomy. Each one has its pros and cons, but at least with radio astronomy you can have a normal sleep schedule since it can be done during the day. Also, stars tend to be a lot more interesting in wavelengths other than the visible light spectrum.
Agreed. I did a lot of VLBI on quasars while studying astronomy which was fun, but OTOH, it's a pain to get that kind of antenna time and if you do it for a living, you'll end up in Chile and most likely on grants.
Good luck, whatever you decide to do.
