Keyboard.

Between an online course and typing shit out for ebay all the time, that's how I really finally learned to type.

Had typing in high school for half the year, my teacher was way past retirement age...just about deaf, blind and had the heat jacked up in her room to about 80...the machines were manual behemoths probably as old as her. The kids used to stand up all the sudden and walk out...she'd follow...thinking it was a fire drill and then we'd stand around outside for half the class. 

My dad and mom taught me the basics on a "new" blue 100lb monster of an IBM electric typewriter at my dad's workplace so that I could actually pass the class. I would love to find one of those vintage monsters just to play with it again.

  I found a typing course in one of my mother's magazines way back in about 1979 or '80.
   I had the use of an ancient manual typewriter.  I tried, but the exercises were so dull. 
   Never learned.  I just use my right index finger and my left middle finger.

  What's the greatest inconvenience you encounter in this largely right-handed world?

Well, when I was at uni, the lecture hall desks were made for right-handers in that they were shaped so that right-handers could rest their right elbow on the desk while taking notes. My left arm had nothing to lean on!
