I prefer chili without the beans.  I dislike the pasty texture of beans.  :orly:

I prefer my canned chili with beans.  The chili at the diner hasn't beans, so I mash a lot of crackers in it.

I like mine with a mixture of chickpeas and canned kidney beans. Plus a sprinkling of cured fly agaric and some peppery boletus mushrooms, along with a spoonful or two of my custom steak spice mix. Makes for a perfect chilli.

They were doing roadworks when I was driving home today. Resurfacing the road. The smell of new tar was lovely. :)

Ah, that brings back memories, Ren. Me and my brother coming home with tar in our clothes and shoes. Great afternoon of playing at the side of a road on a very hot day. We were very sticky and dirty. But it was massive fun.
Mom wasn't too pleased...

We were four and five, back then. Asphalt was softer in those days I think.

I can imagine your mum's displeasure, tar wouldn't come out of clothes easily. And yeah I think the same as you, tar only gets sticky here when the temperature hits the mid 40s Celsius.

In the summer of 1980 I owned a new paperback copy of The Shining and it smelled like tar.  :)

I would be sniffing that book, not reading it. ;)

I sniffed it a lot.  I was sad when the scent faded.  :autism:

They re-pave every few years here out in front. I'll have to invite everyone down.

I'm usually sicker than hell from it for about a week. :zombiefuck:

I'll go out of my way to go on the new roads around here,  they just did Rt 1 and it's wonderful.  Even better than paving is hot tar roofing

Music seems to be better during the summer. I don't know if it's just because it's a windows down, driving country roads in the sunshine kind of feeling or what, but I love it.
