England and USA both qualified
That last minute win for the americans is what makes football so great. You could never beat that kind of feeling. I remember the 1999 champions league final when United were 1-0 down to Bayern Munich. Two corners in injury time and we win 2-1. You can't beat that kind of thing no matter how many points you win in american football
Last second victories are great in any sport. Games that are 4 to 1 or 27 to 3 are not fun to watch imo. I'd rather watch a close game that is decided in the final seconds.
I remember in 1996 my local NFL team (Jaguars) winning because the field goal kicker (Morton Anderson - who is normally great) from the opposing team fell down while he was attempting a kick as time expired. That sent the Jags into the playoffs and they ended up being a part of one of the biggest upsets in NFL playoff history in the second round (against the Elway led Broncos). My favorite Jaguars memory is Fred Taylor basically calling his shot by saying he is going to win the game by running over Mike Doss... and on the final drive of the game Taylor juked through the defensive line and ran right over Doss on his way to a 40 yard game winning touchdown against the favored Indianapolis Colts (fuck you Peyton Manning!!!).
Last second shots in basketball games can be epic as well. I like watching Hockey more when it is in overtime, even though it is not sudden death.
