Cause if you do, I'd be damn curious how it works.

I think our family works- basically because we know that we all have our own little 'quirks' and happily accept each other for who we are (well most of the time anyway ).  It isn't all plain sailing but I don't think we're disfunctional.

As for my wider family- I have parent's who have always supported me, no matter what I wanted to do. And a brother that I get on well with.  My parents are still together and have a good relationship.  Again they're not perfect, but they don't play games and are always very supportive with each other.

I'd say we're functional, in the strict sense that we're not dead.
And as always, these are simply my worthless opinions.
Reverence is fine, Sanctity is silly.
We're all fucked, it helps to remember that.

functional- the mother and wife is a saint on earth.  men lack the capacity to provide functionality in anything but machines.
Misunderstood.

My wife loves me for who I am and what I bring to the relationship.  She appreciates my differences and I appreciate hers and she's a saint 99% of the time.  My daughter knows that we both love her unconditionally and she's wonderfully different.  Aspie spoken fluently in our house.  It takes love, patience, respect and the willingness to be flexible that makes us work together and we're just three weird congenial people! :P

Functional. I love my family and I think they love me.

If we were to talk about where I came from, though, it is sorta different...

Interesting, most of the people posting in this thread are parents or at least older adults. I bet families seem more and more functional the older you get. That or everyone's just grown out of teenage angst.

It is split, the two separate parts, dad and me, and mom and her husband, being functional.

That is true somewhat
Also I think I drive my parents less crazy as I get older
