I am not wearing socks right now.  In fact I'm wearing a pair of ballerina slippers that are surprisingly comfortable.  It's the first time in over 25 hears I haven't been in a lace-up shoe of some kind or another.

I stopped wearing lace-up shoes a couple of years ago, and I'm so much happier! I've never been able to get the laces tight enough to make my feet feel supported. Now I wear slip-on shoes with some elastic panels on the sides, and what a difference!

I've grown to like driving unshod. My feet feel so much more sensitive and responsive to the accelerator pedal that way, whereas I have trouble driving when I'm wearing big chunky shoes.

I'm wearing socks right now, two pairs (ankle sports socks with thin black business socks over them). Somehow I've developed a permanent habit of wearing two pairs at a time.

The end result was my feet literally sweating and stinking of foot odor.

They were all pretty much the same and the thickness was actually pretty thick, I remember leaving it in my room and a half an hour later, the room just literally stunk of cheese.

Thin socks should be the first. Nylon women's socks could do well. Then an absorbent sock over it. Cotton or wool, and a lot thicker. Will help draining sweat from your feet to the outer sock.

Good point.

You could also wear silk socks for the first layer and thicker wool for the second.  That prevents blisters and if it's freezing outside, wool socks do not lose their insulating quality when your feet sweat and they become wet, like cotton socks would do.
