Looks like alex has taken this advice:

Create staff applications, explain what you want/demand from a staff member, put some emphasis on communication and dedication. If it's too much a task for them or it feels like to much work for them, good, it will filter our those who really don't give a hoot. I believe most good admins know who is staff quality when they see it, just got to stand by your standards.

here's the irony. the absolute most inappropriate content was started by a moerator from WP. not only started, but continued.
isn't that funny and hipocritical. intensity hasn't been given a fair shake, by those that wish to suppress free speech. we aren't in the business of capitolizing off of unfortunate events like a murder/suicide and trying to make the most money we can from the members.
