Bought fresh tijgerbrood (Tiger bread/Dutch crunch bread) at the store and had a slice with fresh butter, 2 slices of port wine cheese and some fruit (strawberries, watermelon, honeydew melon). So good.

I think I've created a monster in the little one. It's the first time she's had it and she's obsessed. The bread was supposed to last the week but it lasted 3 days :laugh:

^ Well, it could be considered a good thing also. The fresher the bread is the nicer it tastes, I'd say. Goes for propably most bread.

Tijgerbrood should not last a whole week. Your young one is right. The crust is most delightful when completely fresh.

So funny to see the word tijgerbrood in an English sentence. Pronounciation changes in my head because of it.
The "oo" in it should sound a bit like the "oa" in "boat".

I've already promised to have more on hand for when she returns but will probably buy more for myself. I should have clarified that I had 2 loaves to last the week. We went through both in a few days. :laugh:

Tonight I made chicken parmigiana which turned out beautiful (was a relief because last time the cooking time was off and the chicken wasn't done but the cheese was overdone) and I made a fresh apple and cucumber salad with spinach leaves to go with it. Made my own dressing (lemon juice, Dijon mustard, honey and extra virgin olive oil). Really good.
