my second family-sized tray of tiramisu, as well as periodically popping open the leathery outer casing of some longans I bought in town today, to suck the fleshy arils wrapped round the inner hard, dark brown round (and if lychee seeds are anything to go by, and given their close relationship as plants in the soapberry family, probably poisonous, as lychee seeds, like the ackee fruit thats a staple traditional food amongst jamaicans, but if not properly prepared, causing a severehypoglycaemic toxicity with emetic effects, called jamaican vomiting sickness, ackee is illegal actually, to import into to the US)
Coincidentally, I've just stopped listening to my old man praying at the porcelain shrine, yarfing his guts out, and he had a couple of my longans.
I don't know if theres any connection though, and of course one doesn't eat the seeds.
Eating from a selection of fruits I bought earlier today, a bag of juicy longans, some lychees, star fruit (carambola, again interestingly, seemingly poisonous for people on dialysis or with kidney impairments) and a shaddock, which is like a giant, quite dry, very firm grapefruit. Tasty, but really quite tough, almost crunchy.
