The tech support guy at HP talked me through it, but he says I need a $99 tuneup to keep a virus from taking over my computer.Dunno whether this is legit, or just the PC equivalent of that psychic who tells you she needs X amount of money to lift the curse that someone has placed on you. What's the problem? And what exactly did the tech say?I kept getting error messages when I tried to click on links to sites. "Google.ihc is not an item" or something like that. So I couldn't go anywhere online! It's fixed now but the guy said it is a virus that is affecting many other computers and making them crash. He was all ready to charge me $99 to keep it from happening again.

Symantec offers a daily "threat explorer": http://www.symantec.com/norton/security_response/threatexplorer/index.jspIf unsure, check it first, but remember that they make an AV product so they won't feel bad about all these things.

And now I'm alone on the site wondering what happened to all the members here?
Nobody's here but you. Ever. It's all in your mind.
