They are quite attratcive, but have to come out eventually because they look absurd beyond youth. Older people with them look like they are trying too hard to look young, and the tiny scars they leave are also not so pretty.

That person is me. It's not an assumption, but rather an opinionated observation. Similar to people over thirty who wear crazy hair colors, facial piercings give off the same try-hard midlife crisis type vibe.
I had a piercing in my bottom lip a few years ago. I had to get rid of it because the back of the labret bar rubbed my gums and made them recede quite badly. I liked that piercing a lot, but I like having teeth a lot more. I might get a nose piercing in a couple of months, once we're out of the runny nose season.

I posted pics of two of them in the Elders photo thread just after I had them done. Enterprise NX-01 mission patch on my upper left arm and small green puzzle piece on my right wrist.My other one is like a Celtic swirl pattern that I got on the back of my left shoulder when I was 18.
