Tongue piercings also baffle me. Why would you get a piercing that could interfere with eating?

My friend is into getting dermal piercings. She had one on her wrist and two on her chest that had to be taken out again because they got infected and sore from bumping them. I knew that the wrist one especially wouldn't last.She has a dermal on each side of her face, near the temples. They look fine because they are shiny. To me anyway. Plus she has 30+ tattoos. A lot compared to my measly 3.
I posted pics of two of them in the Elders photo thread just after I had them done. Enterprise NX-01 mission patch on my upper left arm and small green puzzle piece on my right wrist.My other one is like a Celtic swirl pattern that I got on the back of my left shoulder when I was 18.
