Lamictal was awesome for me for mood stabilising but I came off it because I thought I didn't need it any more (wrong) and because it was so expensive, even the generic one. Here in Australia, Lamictal is only available cheaply if a person has epilepsy that isn't controlled by other anti-epileptics. At one stage I was paying $150 for a box of it. And because I went up to 250mg it cost even more.
So I put up with strong emotions/moods for a while then went back to the doctor and that is why I am back on Epilim (sodium valproate). Which I now have to have a blood test for, tomorrow. Epilim also helps with headaches, I don't get anywhere near the amount that I used to get when I wasn't taking it.
And my Zeldox/Geodon has been raised to 40mg twice a day. The doctor really thinks I have bipolar. He thinks the effects I had (less sleep, more motivation, generally feeling very good) was hypomania that was stopped from getting worse by the Zeldox. Yet I think it was the Zeldox that induced that mood. But it is meant specifically for treating mania. So I don't know what that was about.
But I liked it.
