This is the only thing I could find which alludes to that.

Mr Andrew Baker, defending, said Storey was easily led and did not present a risk on her own...
Judge Martin Walsh said Storey’s offence was ‘deeply troubling’, while Gandy posed a ‘significant risk to members of the public.
This is the way society views female sexual offenders in general, deeply troubling, but not a significant risk. Women are somehow innately good and don't do this sort of thing, when they do it's because they're a weak gender easily led by the bad men, deeply troubling.
I would never say that she was 'mentally retarded' but she was easily mislead. The guy says in the video (who knew here in real life).
I feel sorry for her, even though she was in on the abuse. I do think that there was something wrong with her, I think that's the reason why her children were put into care...
I do see where you're coming from but in this case I do agree with the verdict (knowing what I did/do about Aspergianstar2009), not because of her gender but because she genuinely didn't seem to be all there.
If it was the other way around, I'd still say the same thing.
Of course, this is just from my perspective and maybe the fact that she was in on the abuse should come above all else.

I can see why it would seem that this verdict was based on her gender and for all I know, it possibly could have been but I probably would have come to similar verdict myself.
